Push me Pull Me [Dec. 18th, 2005|07:35 pm]
Dont sell us shit, Tell us how to make IT>
Hey Guys, Great site.

I have this idea and I wondered if anyone can help me with it. I want to make a push me pull me. It is one of those hand powered railway carts that can be seen in Buster Keaton movies. The plan is to take it out on the Tram tracks in the city I live in as part of a critcal mass as a funny statement for alternative transport. Cant find anything on the Web about them.

I didn't get any pictures of this unfortunately, but when we were moving we got rid of our computer desk, but we still needed a place for the computer, so we built a temporary desk.
It involved two file cabinets, 2 long shelves (I think they were 2X4s covered in checkered contact paper, but I could be wrong) and some old textbooks to even out the file cabinets. This worked really well for a few months until we moved out.

Oh and a fun idea if you have any old POGS laying around- just superglue a pin backing on it to make cool pins. I have Batgirl and Alice in Wonderland pins so far. Only probelm I've found is that these don't take well to beatings, so I wouldn't suggest putting them on anything that's gonna get bashed around a lot, the pin backing tears off the pog.

if anyone rock climbs (i'm kinda obsessed) i resently learned how to make awsome holds. theyre expencive as shit at stores. i've seen 4 for $35 and decided i needed to make my own.
if you've never rocked climbed you should try it out. go steal some climbing shoes. and i dont suggest trying to make your own harness unless youve studied a professionaly made one for a really long time. thats not somthing you should fuck with (falling off a wall or a cliff with out being extremely safe. i know a kid who shaddered every single bone in his hands wrists arms and shoulders from one fall .freakin bad ass right?) mmm yes so make some holds or just go climb some rocks. be safe. :)

Attention South Florida Atheists, Agnostics, Freethinkers, and Humanists [Mar. 4th, 2005|08:24 pm]
Dont sell us shit, Tell us how to make IT>
Our current members and I of the Broward Atheists Meetup (www.browardatheists.com and in www.meetup.com) welcome all interested in atheism, theism, freethought, agnosticism, humanism, transhumanism, state and church seperation (otherwise known as seperation of sturch), and related topics to our Tuesday meetings after 6:30pm. The www.browardatheists.com website has details on our venue, it is currently a pub, but will change when more members are acquired. We're already bulging at the seams with an average attendance of about twelve. No matter your age, beliefs, or preferences, we'd like to hear your opinion. Even the sternest Christians may come and present their thoughts, because if you really believe we're going to hell, we sure don't want to be wrong about the subject, haha, but most members are pretty confident about their atheism and agnosticism. I mention the invitation only to be open-minded. Anyways, we usually discuss religion, politics, philosophy, etc. but do not feel obligated to have to order anything despite it being a pub. There is no membership fee either, it is an informal event so far seeing how we have too few to be more organized, but we'd like to be! And we'd like to have enough people to start some activism and be as productive as possible.

Aside from the weekly Tuesday meetings, there are fun events such as campfires and beach barbeques scheduled. We sure would like to cooperate with other groups and more members to voice the rights and freedoms we and others deserve regardless of our beliefs and with your ideas and help, this can be made possible. The current goal is to eliminate the negative stigma attached to our labels by altruism and stoicism such as scholarships and good deeds. E-mail me with any questions or better yet, any one else you can get in contact with from the website to get a clearer understanding of who and what we are. We turn no one down and encourage debate, skepticism, and reason. The meetings are definitely worthwhile and interesting or else I wouldn't waste the little free time I have as a college student to invite any one else to come join the experience. If you are in the area and find the time inconvenient with your busy schedule, no hard feelings will be had, but at least sign the guestbook so we can know you support us and wish you could come. :-)

you need it, we've got it [Feb. 5th, 2005|03:51 pm]

Hiya, this is a great idea for a ocmmunity. My parter and I have been compiling a D.I.Y. Zine for some time now and have quite the long list of projects; basically, if you need directions for something, we probably have them. Most recently we have been making our own alcohol. Sake. Other projects were a bike cart for our fat little dog (she is quite the sausage) and converting our van to run on veg. fuel.
I will try and find some cool stuff to post here also I am excited to collect on the good ideas sure to be posted.
